PLS Inc. exists to promote justice, equity and the rule of law in the administration of punishment.
The Service provides and promotes access to justice through:
· legal advice, information and assistance to prisoners and their families · community legal education · law reform and policy development.
Target group and area
· The primary target group is prisoners in Queensland. · The secondary groups are prisoners’ families and the community.
Operational Plan :
· To provide legal advice, information and assistance to prisoners and their families on matters arising from incarceration. · To initiate and engage in law reform and policy development activities to address matters adversely impacting on prisoners and their families. · To engage in community legal education activities, which provide information and promote understanding on issues relevant to the administration of punishment. · To promote and foster positive relationships with other organisations in the criminal justice system. · To develop and maintain a competent and professional organisation.
